Anyone aggrieved by a city official's decision under this article may bring that dispute before the commission. The commission also holds authority to recommend program changes to the city council and, following proper notice and a hearing, to suspend or revoke a landlord's certificate of registration for violations of the article.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Beardstown Ch. 5 Art. VIII § 5-95 establishes the planning and zoning commission as the body that oversees compliance and appeals within the rental housing inspection program. Operators who maintain a valid certificate of registration should be aware that the commission can suspend or revoke that certificate after notice and a hearing if a violation of the article is found. Compliant operators generally keep their registration current, respond promptly to any official notices, and participate in any scheduled hearings if a compliance question arises.

Section 5-95 of Beardstown's rental housing inspection article gives tenants and other aggrieved parties a formal avenue to challenge decisions made by city officials under the program. If a city official's decision under this article affects you, § 5-95 provides that an appeal may be filed with the planning and zoning commission.
