Clarendon Hills Ch. 29 § 29.3 establishes that the multifamily rental property regulations apply to all residential buildings within the Village of Clarendon Hills that contain four or more rental dwelling units, regardless of when those buildings were constructed, altered, or repaired. For Property Managers

Under Clarendon Hills Ch. 29 § 29.3, operators of residential buildings with four or more rental units in Clarendon Hills are subject to the registration requirements and minimum habitability standards established by this chapter, no matter how old the building is or what construction class it falls under. Compliant operators generally ensure their properties meet both the requirements of this chapter and any other applicable Village Code provisions or building ordinances, since this section does not replace those separate obligations. Village officers retain independent authority to inspect and enforce other codes concurrently, so maintaining compliance across all applicable regulations is part of standard property management practice in Clarendon Hills.

For Tenants

Clarendon Hills Ch. 29 § 29.3 means that tenants living in buildings with four or more rental units in Clarendon Hills are covered by the registration and minimum habitability standards this chapter creates, regardless of the building's age or construction type. Because Village officers can enforce this chapter alongside other Village Code provisions and state or federal law, tenants may have multiple regulatory frameworks available when conditions fall short of required standards. Tenants who believe their building is not in compliance with § 29.3 may consider contacting the Village of Clarendon Hills directly, consulting a local tenant-rights organization, or reviewing other applicable state and local protections to understand the full range of options available.
