Under Rolling Meadows Ch. 18 Art. XI § 18-422, compliant property operators generally keep rental units in safe and sanitary condition consistent with city code requirements at all times. Condominium and townhouse association boards or management companies typically maintain an up-to-date list of rented units with owner contact information and file that list with the community development director each year between March 1 and April 1. Operators also generally take active steps to address and prohibit code violations on their premises—such as nuisances, inoperable vehicles, graffiti, and weapon discharge—rather than allowing or ignoring such conduct.
