Sterling's Ch. 18 Art. XI § 18-307 establishes financial penalties for violations of the residential rental property article. Any person found in violation may be fined between $100 and $750 for each day the violation continues. Submitting false information on a registration statement carries an additional fine of $50 to $750, on top of any other applicable penalties. Each day a violation persists is treated as a separate, independently punishable offense.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Under § 18-307, operators of residential rental properties in Sterling face daily fines ranging from $100 to $750 for each day a violation of Ch. 18 Art. XI remains unresolved. Compliant operators generally ensure that all registration statements and amendments are accurate and complete, since intentional submission of false information triggers a separate penalty layer of up to $750. Promptly correcting any identified violations limits exposure to compounding per-day fines, as each day of continued non-compliance constitutes a distinct offense.
