For Property Managers

St. Clair Shores — Ch. 22 Art. II Fair Housing § 22-20 signals that the city treats fair housing compliance as a matter of public policy, not merely a legal formality. Operators who understand this foundational statement recognize that the protected characteristics listed—ranging from race and religion to height, weight, and age—set the scope for the nondiscrimination obligations detailed throughout the rest of Article II. Compliant property managers typically review their rental policies, advertising, and screening criteria against this full list of protected classes.
