St. Clair Shores — Ch. 8 Art. VII Inspection of Residential Rental Properties § 8-307
Application for a certificate of approval may be made by the owner or his designated agent upon a form provided by the Building Division and payment of an inspection fee. The fee schedule is as follows: (1)
For a detached, single-family home inspection, and an inspection of a condominium unit, boarding house and/or dormitory (as defined in the state construction code ), the fee shall be in an amount to be decided by resolution by the City Council from time to time for inspection of the first 3,000 square feet in area, plus an additional fee in an amount to be decided by resolution by the City Council from time to time for each additional 1,000 square feet in area or portion thereof of each structure/premises.
(2) For multi-residential premises (defined as two or more attached units under common ownership, (other than condominiums), i.e., commonly called apartments, duplexes, two- or four-family flats, etc.), the fee shall be an amount to be decided by resolution by the City Council from time to time per residential unit and an amount to be decided by resolution by the City Council from time to time for each unit in the same building inspected at the same time.
(3) The inspection fee shall include one re-inspection to determine compliance. In the event the applicant fails to have the property available for inspection at the time and date arranged by the Building Division in accordance with the rules and regulations adopted by reference in this article, and the inspection is required to be rescheduled, and the applicant shall be required to pay an additional re-inspection fee in an amount to be decided by resolution by the City Council from time to time. Further, an additional sum of 50 percent of the original inspection fee will be charged for re-inspection of the structure/premises, if necessary, to determine that corrections have been completed in order to issue the final certificate of approval in the event of the first inspection reveals the corrections were not properly completed.
