For Property Managers

Under Rochester, Minn., Code of Ordinances § 7-8-35, property owners and managers are generally expected to assess whether their fire department connection is visible from the street and, if it is not, to install a properly sized and worded sign on the building exterior. Compliant operators typically ensure the 'FDC' lettering meets the six-inch minimum height requirement and that directional text or arrows meet the two-inch minimum, then submit the signage for review and approval by the fire code official. Keeping documentation of that approval on file is a common practice among operators who want to demonstrate ongoing compliance during inspections.
