Operative Text
No child under 16 years of age shall live or sleep in a rooming house unless he resides in a dwelling unit contained therein or is accompanied by a parent or a guardian. No child under 16 years of age shall live or sleep in a hotel for a period of more than 30 days in any calendar year unless he resides in a dwelling unit contained therein. (Code 1964, § 12A-32)
Under Bellevue, Neb., Code of Ordinances ch. 15, art. V § 15-147, children under 16 are restricted from living or sleeping in rooming houses unless they occupy a self-contained dwelling unit within the building or are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additionally, children under 16 may not live or sleep in a hotel for more than 30 days in a calendar year unless they reside in a dwelling unit located within that hotel. These rules are designed to limit unsupervised or long-term lodging of minors in transient or shared-occupancy housing settings.

Operators of rooming houses and hotels in Bellevue should be aware that § 15-147 places specific restrictions on housing minors under 16 in these facilities. A compliant rooming house operator generally verifies that any child under 16 is either residing in a self-contained dwelling unit on the premises or is accompanied by a parent or guardian. Hotel operators similarly track the length of stay for guests under 16 who are not in a dwelling unit, ensuring such stays do not exceed 30 days in a calendar year as required by Bellevue, Neb., Code of Ordinances ch. 15, art. V § 15-147.
