For Property Managers

Under § 475-53, property owners and managers are generally expected to ensure that tenants' animals do not create unsanitary conditions or nuisances on the premises. Compliant operators typically include lease provisions that align with the City of Fulton's animal regulations under Chapter 216, Articles I and II, and address limits on the type and number of animals permitted. Landlords also commonly take steps to prevent prohibited animals—such as livestock, poultry, or bees—from being kept on their properties, as these are expressly barred by § 475-53.

For Tenants

Section 475-53 of Fulton's Code of Ordinances sets boundaries on what kinds of animals tenants may keep and how they must be maintained. Tenants who keep domesticated pets are generally expected to ensure those animals do not create unsanitary conditions or rise to the level of a nuisance as defined under this section and Chapter 216, Articles I and II. Tenants who believe a violation of this provision is being applied to them unfairly, or who have questions about what qualifies as a permitted animal, may wish to consult a local tenant-rights organization or review the City of Fulton's Code directly.
