For Property Managers

Under § 158-15, the Fair Housing Board is the local body that may be involved in fair housing matters affecting property owners and managers in Geneva. Compliant operators generally familiarize themselves with the Board's composition and role, since it is drawn from the Commission and operates under City Council oversight. Staying informed about Board activities and any proceedings it conducts is a common practice for operators subject to Geneva's fair housing ordinance.

For Tenants

Section 158-15 establishes the Fair Housing Board as a formal local body in Geneva that handles fair housing matters, which may be relevant to tenants who believe their rights under ch. 158 have been affected. Tenants can look to this Board as a potential avenue for raising concerns, alongside consulting a local tenant-rights organization for guidance on available options. Understanding the Board's structure — three appointed members serving without pay under City Council authority — can help tenants identify the appropriate body when seeking information about a fair housing concern.
