Section 168-57 of Glen Cove's Code of Ordinances establishes baseline obligations for owners and lessors of multiple dwellings in the city. It requires registration with the Building Department within 90 days of the provisions' adoption, including detailed information about the property, its layout, safety equipment, and occupancy. The rule also mandates ongoing compliance with the New York Multiple Residence Law covering fire, occupancy, and safety standards, and ties violations to penalties outlined in § 168-63.

Under § 168-57, compliant operators of multiple dwellings in Glen Cove register with the Building Department using the city's official forms, submitting owner contact information, property descriptions, unit sketches showing kitchens, bedrooms, exits, smoke detectors, and other fire-safety equipment, and any mixed-use occupancy details. They also update registration information whenever the Building Department requires changes. Ongoing compliance with the New York Multiple Residence Law on fire, occupancy, and safety standards is a continuing duty, and failure to meet any of these obligations—or to respond to a violation order—can result in fines and/or imprisonment as specified in § 168-63.
