Section 128-12 of the Glens Falls Code of Ordinances gives tenants a basis to expect that their dwelling's exterior, interior surfaces, stairways, and required facilities are maintained in safe, sound, and sanitary condition. If a landlord fails to meet these standards—such as allowing a leaking roof, deteriorating stairway, or broken required equipment—tenants may have grounds to raise the violation in housing or code-enforcement proceedings. Consulting a local tenant-rights organization or housing attorney can help clarify what options may be available, including filing a complaint with the appropriate municipal code enforcement office.
