Plain English — not legal advice.
Under § 143-6, the Fair Housing Office has authority to investigate complaints alleging violations of Chapter 143, meaning property owners and managers operating in Gloversville are subject to that investigative process. Compliant operators generally familiarize themselves with the rights and remedies outlined in Chapter 143, respond cooperatively to any Office inquiries, and may seek the technical assistance the Office is authorized to provide under this section. Staying informed about any policy recommendations the Office makes to city agencies can also help operators align their practices with the chapter's purposes.

Section 143-6 gives the Gloversville Fair Housing Office the explicit duty to receive and investigate complaints from individuals who believe their fair housing rights under Chapter 143 have been violated. The Office is also charged with informing residents of the rights and remedies available to them under the chapter, so contacting the Fair Housing Officer directly is one general path for learning more about those protections.
