Section 121-60 of Rensselaer's Code of Ordinances establishes baseline property maintenance standards for mobile home courts. The rule requires that the overall grounds and structures be kept safe, sanitary, and orderly — covering everything from weed and pest control to proper garbage disposal and the upkeep of exterior wood surfaces. Domestic animals must also be kept under control and not allowed to roam freely throughout the court.

For Property Managers

Operators of mobile home courts in Rensselaer are expected to conduct regular inspections and upkeep consistent with § 121-60, addressing hazards such as heavy undergrowth, pest infestations, and deteriorating exterior wood surfaces before they become serious problems. Compliant operators typically maintain documented schedules for garbage collection, extermination services, and protective coating of wood structures, using methods that conform to generally accepted industry practice. Policies governing domestic animals should be clearly communicated to residents and enforced consistently to meet the ordinance's requirement that pets not be permitted to run at large.
