For Property Managers

Operators of residential properties subject to § 167-49 generally maintain compliant sanitation by providing appropriate containers and ensuring garbage and refuse are stored and disposed of in accordance with city ordinances. Common compliance practices include keeping shared hallways and stairways clear of any accumulated garbage, removing locking mechanisms or hinges from discarded appliances before placing them anywhere accessible to children, and keeping open areas of the premises free of junked vehicles, equipment, and materials. Documenting routine inspections of common areas and exterior spaces can help demonstrate ongoing adherence to the requirements of ch. 167 § 167-49.
