For Property Managers

Under Vestal Town Code ch. 5, art. VII § 5-153, compliant rental property operators ensure that a completed registration form is on file with the Vestal Police Department at all times. When acquiring a rental property, a new owner typically prioritizes filing the required form well within the 60-day window that begins upon taking title. Operators who manage multiple properties generally track each property's registration status separately to avoid gaps in compliance.

For Tenants

Vestal Town Code ch. 5, art. VII § 5-153 requires that the owner of your rental property be registered with the Vestal Police Department, which means there is a public record of who holds ownership responsibility. If you have questions about whether your property is properly registered, contacting the Vestal Police Department directly or reaching out to a local tenant-rights organization can help clarify the status. Knowledge of a landlord's registration standing may be relevant context when navigating other housing concerns in Vestal.
