HUD HCV Guidebook § 2
A single room occupancy (SRO) unit provides living and sleeping space for the exclusive use of the
occupant, but requires that the occupant share sanitary and/or food preparation facilities with others.
There is no federal limitation on the number of SRO units in an SRO facility. There is a separate lease
and HAP contract for each assisted person in an SRO unit. The standard HAP contract is used.
