Housing Notice § 2024-04 affects tenants in HUD-assisted multifamily properties because it governs when owners must bring their tenant selection and income verification procedures into line with updated federal rules under HOTMA. Tenants who believe a property's selection or income verification practices do not conform to HUD requirements may contact the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development or a local tenant-rights organization for information about available options. Reviewing Notice H 2023-10 alongside § 2024-04 can help tenants understand what updated policies their housing provider is expected to have in place.
