Under Iowa Code ch. 10A § 10A.903, property owners who hire contractors for renovation, remodeling, or repainting work on target housing or child-occupied facilities should be aware that the contractor is required to provide an approved lead hazard information pamphlet before work begins. Compliant operators typically confirm that this pamphlet has been delivered to both themselves and any occupants prior to the start of any covered project. Keeping documentation that the pamphlet was received can be a useful part of a property owner's records for covered renovation projects.
