Iowa Admin. Code r. 161—9 § 161—9.23 provides a geographic protection for Iowa residents who are subpoenaed to give a deposition in a Commission proceeding — they cannot be required to appear in a county other than where they reside, are employed, or personally transact business. Tenants who are witnesses or parties in a Civil Rights Commission case and receive a deposition subpoena may want to verify that the designated location falls within the county limits set by this rule. Tenant-rights organizations or legal aid services can help individuals understand how this protection applies in the context of a Commission proceeding.
