Ky. Rev. Stat. ch. 344 § 344.680
Denying access to multiple listing service unlawful
Operative Text
344.680 Denying access to multiple listing service unlawful. It shall be unlawful to deny any person access to, or membership or participation in, any multiple listing service, real estate brokers' organization, or other service, organization, or facility relating to the business of selling or renting housing accommodations, or to discriminate against a person in the terms or conditions of access, membership, or participation, on account of race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin.
Kentucky Revised Statute § 344.680 makes it unlawful to block any person from joining or using a multiple listing service, real estate brokers' organization, or similar housing-related service or facility based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. The rule also prohibits offering unequal terms or conditions of membership or participation on those same grounds. In short, the provision extends fair-housing protections beyond individual transactions to the professional infrastructure that supports the buying and renting of housing.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Under Ky. Rev. Stat. § 344.680, real estate professionals and organizations that operate or participate in multiple listing services or brokers' associations are expected to apply uniform, non-discriminatory criteria when granting access, membership, or participation to all individuals. Compliant operators document their membership standards and apply them consistently regardless of a person's race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Reviewing internal policies and membership agreements against the protected classes listed in § 344.680 is a common practice among operators seeking to stay in compliance.

Ky. Rev. Stat. § 344.680 gives individuals the right to access housing-related services and organizations—such as multiple listing services—without facing discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. If someone believes they have been denied access or subjected to unequal terms in violation of § 344.680, general enforcement paths include filing a complaint with the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights or the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Tenant-rights organizations and fair-housing councils can also help individuals understand what options may be available to them.
