Plain English

Minn. Stat. § 462A.35 establishes the Minnesota Manufactured Home Relocation Trust Fund as a dedicated account within the state's housing development fund. The fund is built from contributions made by manufactured home park owners and home owners, along with interest earnings and any other appropriated money. Its purpose is to provide payments to manufactured home owners—and other parties approved by a third-party neutral—when relocation assistance is triggered under the related closure-notice statutes, and to cover the costs of administering the fund itself.

For Property Managers

Under Minn. Stat. § 462A.35, manufactured home park owners are among the parties required to make payments into the Minnesota Manufactured Home Relocation Trust Fund, as specified by cross-referenced provisions in section 327C.095. Operators who close or convert a park generally ensure those contributions are made on time and in the correct amounts to remain in compliance. Keeping clear records of all payments made to the fund is a standard practice for park owners subject to this requirement.

For Tenants

Minn. Stat. § 462A.35 creates a dedicated trust fund that can be used to make relocation payments directly to manufactured home owners when a park closure or conversion triggers assistance under section 327C.095. If a park closure affects you, this fund is one potential source of financial support, and payments may also be made to other parties approved by a third-party neutral. Tenant-rights organizations familiar with Minnesota manufactured home law can help residents understand what payments may be available and how to pursue them through the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency.
