Mont. Admin. R. 37.111.1212 governs how campgrounds and similar establishments must supply potable water when not every site has its own water hookup. Under this rule, a shared water station must include at minimum a hydrant with proper fittings, and the station must be equipped with backflow and back-siphonage prevention devices that meet ASSE or FCCCHR standards. The station must be physically separated from any sewage dump station, and it must be located within 300 feet of every site that relies on it for water.

For Property Managers

Operators of campgrounds or similar establishments subject to Mont. Admin. R. 37.111.1212 generally maintain a water station whenever any designated site lacks its own individual water connection. A compliant operator ensures that the station's backflow and back-siphonage prevention devices carry ASSE or FCCCHR certification appropriate to the specific device type, keeps the water station physically separate from the sanitary dump station, and confirms that no dependent site is more than 300 feet from a water station. Routine inspection and maintenance of prevention devices are part of ongoing compliance with this section.

For Tenants

Residents or guests at campgrounds and similar establishments are protected under Mont. Admin. R. 37.111.1212, which requires that shared water stations be safely equipped and conveniently located within 300 feet of sites without individual hookups. If a water station appears to lack proper backflow protection, is co-located with a sewage dump station, or is unreasonably far from your site, that may indicate a violation of this rule. Concerns can generally be reported to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, and tenant-rights or consumer-protection organizations can help identify the appropriate complaint process.
