N.J. Stat. Ann. § 10:5-1 et seq. § 10:5-41
Affirmative action program for veterans; investigations
Operative Text
3. The State Treasurer shall prescribe an affirmative action program for veterans. The Treasurer shall designate an appropriate official in the Department of the Treasury to receive and investigate any complaints charging discriminatory employment practices toward such veterans. L.1983, c.197, s.3; amended 2017, c.184, s.7.
Under N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq. § 10:5-41, New Jersey's State Treasurer is directed to establish an affirmative action program specifically for veterans and to designate a Treasury Department official to receive and investigate complaints about discriminatory employment practices against those veterans. This provision creates a formal state-level mechanism for addressing employment discrimination complaints from veterans. It applies to employment contexts rather than residential tenancy directly, but forms part of New Jersey's broader anti-discrimination framework.

N.J.S.A. 10:5-1 et seq. § 10:5-41 is part of New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination and establishes state-level protections for veterans in employment settings. Property owners and managers who employ staff should be aware that veteran status is a protected category under this framework, and that the Department of the Treasury has a designated official empowered to investigate related complaints. Operators who maintain non-discriminatory employment policies and practices generally align with the obligations this provision supports.
