Extermination methods and other measures to control insects and rodents must conform with the requirements of the department. 2. All areas must be maintained free of accumulations of debris. The growth of brush, weeds, and grass must be controlled to prevent harborage or breeding places for noxious insects and vermin. Mobile home parks must be so maintained as to prevent the growth of noxious weeds considered detrimental to health. 3. Storage areas must be maintained so as to prevent rodent harborage. Lumber, firewood, pipe, and other building materials must be stored neatly at least one foot [.3 meter] above the ground. 4. Any skirting of mobile homes must be of a type and construction which will not provide harborage. Where mobile homes are skirted, an access opening must be provided near service connections.
North Dakota Administrative Code ch. 33-33-01 § 33-33-01-05 establishes sanitation and pest-control standards for mobile home parks. The rule requires that all grounds, buildings, structures, and storage areas be kept free of conditions that could shelter insects, rodents, or other vermin. Vegetation must be managed to eliminate breeding habitat for pests, stored materials must be elevated at least one foot off the ground, and any skirting on mobile homes must not create harborage spaces—with an access opening required near service connections where skirting is used.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Operators of mobile home parks subject to N.D. Admin. Code ch. 33-33-01 § 33-33-01-05 generally keep the entire property—grounds, buildings, storage areas, and individual home sites—clear of debris, overgrown vegetation, and conditions that attract or shelter pests. Compliant operators use extermination methods approved by the North Dakota Department of Health, store lumber, firewood, pipe, and similar materials neatly on supports at least one foot above the ground, and ensure that any mobile home skirting is designed to prevent harborage while providing an accessible opening near service connections. Routine inspections and documented pest-control activities help demonstrate ongoing compliance with the department's requirements.
