Plain English — not legal advice.
Property owners and managers named as respondents in a complaint filed under § 14-02.5-18 can expect to receive formal written notice from the North Dakota Department of Labor and Human Rights within ten days of a complaint being filed or their identification as a respondent. That notice will identify the alleged discriminatory housing practice and outline the respondent's procedural rights and obligations under the chapter. Operators who maintain clear records of their housing practices and communications are generally better positioned to respond to department inquiries in a timely and organized manner.
