Operative Text
A. Not later than the 10th day after receipt of the notice and copy pursuant to paragraph 3 of subsection F of Section 1502.2 of this title, a respondent may file an answer to the complaint. B. An answer must be: 1. In writing; 2. Under oath; and 3. In the form prescribed by the Attorney General. C. An answer may be amended at any time. D. An answer does not inhibit the investigation of a complaint.
Under 25 O.S. § 1502.3, a person or entity named as a respondent in a housing discrimination complaint has up to 10 days after receiving the required notice and copy to file a written answer. That answer must be sworn under oath and follow the form established by the Attorney General. Filing an answer does not pause or limit any ongoing investigation of the underlying complaint, and the answer may be revised at any time.

Under 25 O.S. § 1502.3, a housing provider who receives notice that a complaint has been filed against them has a 10-day window to submit a formal response. Operators who choose to respond generally prepare a written, sworn answer in the format the Attorney General prescribes, and they should be aware that submitting an answer does not stop investigators from continuing their review of the complaint. Because the answer can be amended at any time, operators often use that flexibility to update or clarify their response as facts develop.

Under 25 O.S. § 1502.3, when a respondent files an answer to a complaint you have brought, that answer does not slow down or halt the investigation on your behalf. The provision also allows the respondent to amend their answer at any time, which means the record may evolve during the process. Tenants navigating this stage of a housing discrimination proceeding may find it helpful to consult a tenant-rights organization or legal aid office to understand how the investigation and answer process may affect their complaint.
