Tex. Prop. Code Ann. §§ 301.001–301.171 § 301.066
COOPERATION WITH OTHER ENTITIES.
Operative Text
Sec. 301.066. COOPERATION WITH OTHER ENTITIES. The commission shall cooperate with and may provide technical and other assistance to federal, state, local, and other public or private entities that are designing or operating programs to prevent or eliminate discriminatory housing practices. Added by Acts 1993, 73rd Leg., ch. 268, Sec. 40, eff. Sept. 1, 1993.
Section 301.066 of the Texas Property Code directs the state commission to work alongside and, where appropriate, offer technical or other forms of assistance to a broad range of governmental and private organizations that are developing or running programs aimed at reducing or eliminating discriminatory housing practices. The provision establishes a cooperative mandate rather than a prohibition or individual right. It reflects a policy choice to coordinate fair-housing efforts across multiple levels of government and the private sector.
Plain English — not legal advice.
Under § 301.066, the Texas commission is authorized to partner with and support outside entities—including local governments and private organizations—that run fair-housing programs. Operators who participate in or interact with such programs may find that the commission plays a supporting or coordinating role in those initiatives. Staying informed about commission-supported fair-housing programs can help property managers understand the broader enforcement and educational landscape in Texas.

Section 301.066 establishes that the Texas commission can collaborate with and assist other public and private organizations working to combat housing discrimination. This means tenants may encounter fair-housing resources, outreach programs, or technical assistance efforts that are backed or supported by the commission through these partnerships. Tenants who believe they have experienced discriminatory housing practices can explore complaint processes through the commission itself or reach out to local fair-housing organizations that may operate under cooperative arrangements described in § 301.066.
